A 7500 mile journey across Asia along the old Silk Road

There are five large temples at Hattusa and the Grand Temple [Temple 1] is the largest surving Hittite Temple in the Lower City. The pic shows the four fragments remaining of a rectangular 'Lion Basin' on the way to the Temple's Great Door. The Basin was carved from a single limestone block and was 18 feet long. It is not thought to have been used to contain water and may have been a pedestal for a statue.
