A 7500 mile journey across Asia along the old Silk Road

This sketch seeks to convey the scale of the Yerkapi Rampart. It is the highest and most southerly point in the fortifications of the City of Hattusa. The rampart, still largely intact, is 270 yards long on a foundation 87 yards across and stands almost 100 feet high. The walls and towers have largely disappeared but the tunnel shown towards the bottom of the sketch remains intact.
